NewsMM releases new game: RBy: Ender On: 1:06 25-12-2006The creator of soldat, Michal Marcinkowski, today, on christmas evening, finally released the 2D platform game we knew he was working on for years. It's not Crimson Glory, a 3D WW1 shooter he's also planning, but a platform game that was in the pipeline even before starting on Crimson. He created this game after discussions with a dude called Dolny in 2004 and 2005. The game is branded R or R09.
Michal himself describes it as platform/puzzle/action/adventure. The game is not finished, with no intention of ever finishing it. But still it's fully playable. First impression: It's butt-ugly, even more ugly than soldat? Way uglier! The Story
The game follows Joseph, a cleaner at a dogfood company called Goodco. The company logo interestingly looks like a nazi flag with a bulldog head badly pasted over the swastika. Anyway, a bunny (presumably to be made into dogfood) escapes from the company and Joseph is sent out to chase it. Open SourceThe source is released together with the game, so any programmer interested can continue working on it himself (If he knows the C++ programming language). There's no Open Source license included but the readme.txt file says: R is released as open source. You may do whatever you wish with it. You can even develop the game and complete it. But just to warn you the source code doesn't really take advantages of c++ language and is a pain in the ass to work with. This is especially interesting since Michal showed interest in releasing soldat as open source, maybe this is also a way for MM to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of open source.
